Getting to Sri Lanka

Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB) in Colombo is the main international gateway. The airport is approximately 115 km from Kandy (3–3.5 hours by road).

By Air

Direct flights operate from major Asian hubs including Singapore, Dubai, Delhi, Bangkok, and Kuala Lumpur. SriLankan Airlines is the national carrier with connections worldwide.

Airport to Kandy

Pre-arranged transfers available via the registration portal (LKR 12,000). Alternatively, take an Uber or taxi (~LKR 10,000–15,000) or the scenic train from Colombo Fort (3–4 hours).

Visa Requirements

Most nationalities require an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) to enter Sri Lanka. The ETA is valid for 30 days and can be extended.

Sri Lankan Rupee (LKR). ATMs widely available. Major credit cards accepted at hotels and restaurants. USD 1 ≈ LKR 320.

May in Kandy: Warm and humid (25–30°C). Occasional rain showers. Pack light clothing and an umbrella.
